The Pine Point Branch Library, 204 Boston Road (263-6855), will host a series of free discussions at 6 p.m. on four upcoming Wednesdays. We hope to connect area residents with local experts in order to deepen an understanding of community issues. Drop in for any or all sessions in the series.
- February 15: Grow Food Everywhere. A discussion with Gardening the Community (GtC) youth and Peter Merzbacher about urban gardening in Springfield and the Community Gardening Ordinance. We'll also feature a short film called A Garden Grows at 13th and C Streets , set in Washington, D.C.
- February 22: Voting for the Future: Getting Involved Matters! Susan Roche, retired lawyer and current leader at Organizing for America, will discuss voting and voter trends in Springfield. She'll talk about how our government is organized, how to get involved, as well as how to stay informed and interested in local elections.
- February 29: Working Together to Build Community: Community Organizing in Springfield. Aron Goldman, Executive Director of the Springfield Institute, and Betty Agin, Director of Universal Community Voices Eliminating Disparities, will discuss community organizing in Springfield including some of its general goals and objectives.
- March 7: Consumer Beware: Protect Yourself from Scams. Think you can't be scammed? Think again! Con artists are skilled in parting people from their money. Learn about common scams and how to protect yourself. Led by Susan Grant, Director of Consumer Protection at the nonprofit Consumer Federation of America.

- Word processing: 30 minute slots
- Internet: 30 minute slots
