Go Green at Your Library!
2010 Summer Reading Club
June 21 - August 7 (August 14 for Adults)
It's time to sign up for Springfield City Library's Summer Reading Club and take advantage of all the library offers, for free. This year's theme, “Go Green at Your Library!” is timely indeed, since Springfield was recently named a “green community.” It's appropriate to borrow instead of buy, saving money and trees! Signing up is simple -- just stop in to any of our library branches and fill out a registration sheet. For more information on our three clubs, click here:

Norman's Magic Show
East Springfield, Wednesday, August 11, 4 pm
A magic show performed by Norman Ng is an exciting fusion of magic, comedy, and audience participation! To mark the end of Springfield City Library's Summer Reading Club, families will have many chances to watch Norman give "...one of the most unique shows around," according to Western Oregon University. In fact, Norman was just nominated for two awards by Campus Activities Magazine, for 2010's "Best Male Performer" and "Best Novelty Live Act." His show features amazing magic, hilarious comedy and lots of hands-on fun! The Friends of the Springfield Library generously provide funding for these programs. For additional information please contact Jean Canosa Albano at 263-6828, x291.

City Councilor Michael Fenton Office Hours
Liberty: 2nd Tuesday, 7-8 pm
East Springfield: 2nd Wednesday, 7-8 pm
Ward 2 City Councilor Michael Fenton will hold office hours at two Springfield libraries starting April 13. The office hours will be held on the second Tuesday and second Wednesday of every month from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Tuesday office hours will be held at the Liberty Branch located at 773 Liberty Street and Wednesday office hours will be at the East Springfield Branch located at 21 Osborne Terrace. These libraries are on opposite ends of Ward 2 and were chosen in an effort to be accessible to everyone in the area.
This new initiative will be an opportunity for community residents to meet with their Ward 2 representative to discuss issues that are important to them. "I want to be accessible to the community," Fenton said.
Additional office hours and accommodations will be made in response to need. Councilor Fenton stressed that, "these office hours are not the only time that residents can get in touch with me. I encourage city residents to contact me via email or phone."
Councilor Fenton can be reached by e-mail at mfenton@springfieldcityhall.com or by telephone at 413-788-8023.
