The Mason Square Branch Library is housed in the annex of the Urban League office building.
While the Mason Square Library has been condensed since the Springfield Library and Museums Association's 2003 sale of the original building to the Urban League, it maintains a collection of approximately 10,000 items and offers full circulation services, including offering system-wide holds and Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
Through collaboration with the Urban League of Springfield, the Library also maintains 8 public access Internet computers and provides preschool and public school class visits by appointment.

Mason Square Branch Library Renovation
The Library will post updates on the progress of renovations at Mason Square Branch Library, next to the overall floor plan as designed by Stephen Jablonski Architects. Photos will be added soon and updated as well, as changes happen.
Click here for a PDF of the renovation plan with updated notes !
The Reading Garden is now a beautiful flower-filled outdoor space with seating and wireless access.

The Reading Garden has been planned by the architects to replace the one originally at the branch in the 1950s.
Martha Speaks Read-Aloud Book Club
The Martha Speaks Read-Aloud Book Club introduces children to an engaging collection of dog-themed books and activities, and fosters their love of words and reading. A companion to the popular PBS KIDS television show Martha Speaks, the club can also help children develop a deeper appreciation of the many positive roles dogs play in our lives.
Book Club Sessions
Over the course of six one-hour sessions, children ages 4 to 7 listen to a book read aloud, engage in conversation about the book, learn new vocabulary, and participate in a hands-on activity. At the conclusion of each session, children receive a copy of the featured book, along with fun Martha Speaks incentives, such as stickers and Martha Speaks collectibles, to take home.
At Mason Square, Wednesdays, starting July 21, at 10:30 (through August 25)
Please pre-register by calling the branch at 263-6853. Space is limited.

Signing up is simple -- just stop in to any of our library branches and fill out a registration sheet. For more information on our three clubs, click here:
